"Mini" Dental Implants

Are you a candidate for Mini Dental Implants?

Dr.Williams is trained and experienced in mini dental implants and can perform the entire procedure in his office, often in a single visit!

A "mini" dental implant is commonly made of titanium, and about the diameter of a toothpick.  Mini implants are most often used to firmly anchor larger dental appliances, such as dentures.

Dr. Williams has completed advanced training in Implant Dentistry and can complete the entire dental implant procedure from start to finish under one roof. In fact, in most cases the mini-implants are placed and a denture firmly attached in a single visit.

The first step will be to get a complete examination by Dr. Williams to determine whether mini-dental implants are the best way to replace your missing tooth or teeth or secure your existing dentures.

Making the right decision about mini dental implants is important. Make an appointment to see Dr. Williams and find out if you are a candidate.

Eliminate problems with existing dentures

If you currently have dentures that slip out of place, or that do not allow you to eat foods that you would like to be able to eat again, anchoring those dentures with mini implants will stabilize your dentures, and give you the abiltity to enjoy eating again.

Eat and speak normally immediately after surgery

Unlike standard implants, mini implants are immediately ready to support replacement dental appliances once they are placed by Dr. Williams.  This means that if you get mini implants to support your dentures, you will walk out of the office on the day of surgery with a denture which is not only solidly stable, but can be used to eat immediately.

Only local anesthetic is needed to place the mini implants

Most of the time, the only anesthetic necessary is an injection directly over the position in the gums where each implant is to be placed.  The denture can then be carefully fitted over the newly placed implants, and you can use your denture immediately, without waiting for the three to six months necessary for a standard implant to integrate with your existing bone.

You may qualify to get mini implants even if you are not a candidate for standard implants

Even if you have been told that you don't have enough bone to accomodate standard implants, Dr. Williams can usually fit you with minis.  This is because mini implants are much smaller in diameter than standard implants, and do not require as much bone to support them.

The procedure is rapid and painless

If you have existing dentures, and want to have them supported by mini-implants, the entire procedure (placing the implants and retrofitting your old denture so that it is supported by the newly placed minis) takes about 90 minutes.  It is generally painless, and produces very minimal post operative discomfort.

Dr. Williams can perform the entire procedure in his office

Whether you are having existing dentures secured by mini implants, or having your teeth restored with new dentures or bridges secured with mini implants, Dr. Williams can help you every step of the way. Thanks to his advanced training and equipment, Dr. Williams can perform the necessary extractions, surgically place the mini-implant posts, and carefully design and fit your dentures or other dental appliances.  The results for you will be a mouth that is fully restored to full health, function and beauty.

Are you a candidate for mini dental implants?

Most people are candidates for mini implants, if they are needed.

The only medical conditions that absolutely preclude the placement of these mini implants are the following:

  • Uncontrolled diabetes

  • A history of radiation treatment to the jaws (generally for cancer)--this does not include diagnostic x-rays

  • Immuno-suppressed patient

  • Substance abuse
